Bernard Hunter
Founded in 1946 by Bernard Hunter, a man whose vision, work ethic, and service during WWIIshaped the company’s values, the business began as a small family operation in Edinburgh and quickly became recognised for crane hire, metal processing, recycling, and machinery movement across Scotland.
Over the decades, we’ve continued to lead with innovation — from introducing Scotland’s first Spierings mobile tower crane to investing in cutting-edge recycling technology that prevents valuable materials, such as electrical cables, from going to landfill. Today, still family-owned and operated by the third generation, Bernard Hunter is firmly established as one of the UK’s leading crane hire companies, known for ongoing investment in both our people and our fleet.
Our equipment ranges from fully electric Maeda mini crawler cranes to out flagship 700-tonne Liebherr mobile crane, making us capable of handling projects of any scale.
This journey of growth, innovation, and family heritage is captured in our book, Bernard Hunter: The First 75 Years — available to order.
